Inside Ghana's first Parliamentary Museum opening September 22

Parliament is set to open its first Parliamentary Museum to the public on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the history and development of Ghana’s legislature.

The museum houses a curated collection documenting the evolution of Ghana’s Parliament, with exhibits spanning the institution’s history and the country’s constitutional development.

Among the items on display will be historical photographs, documents and records of past parliamentary proceedings, as well as artefacts and memorabilia belonging to former Speakers of Parliament.

The museum will also feature archival material on the Legislative Council, which preceded Ghana’s modern parliamentary system, alongside records highlighting key constitutional milestones in the country’s history.

Visitors will also find ceremonial and symbolic items associated with Parliament, offering a look at some of the traditions and institutional practices of the legislature.

The museum includes interactive multimedia exhibits designed to explain Ghana’s law-making process and the development of governance in the country.

Beyond the historical exhibits, the facility is expected to serve as a resource for students and researchers studying Ghana’s parliamentary and constitutional development.

It will also provide members of the public with an opportunity to learn more about the workings of Parliament, while tourists and cultural visitors can explore it as part of Ghana’s heritage attractions.

The museum is a legacy project of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and is intended to preserve Parliament’s institutional memory and legislative history for future generations.

Opening hours and how to visit

The Parliamentary Museum will be open from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Members of the public who wish to visit must book through Parliament’s official website by selecting “Visit”, then “Museum”, and completing the booking form.

Visitors will receive a message once their requests have been approved.
