Aduana FC charged over alleged attack on Karela United after GPL clash

Aduana FC have been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the reported attack on Karela United players, officials and their team bus after their Ghana Premier League encounter in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The charges relate to alleged breaches of Articles 16(1)(c), 16(1)(e) and 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, as well as Protocol 9(b) of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols, 2025.

According to the GFA, Aduana are alleged to have failed to ensure the safety and security of the visiting team and its officials, while their supporters are also accused of inappropriate conduct.

The charges follow reports of disturbances after Aduana’s 2-1 victory over Karela in their Matchday Three fixture at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park on Sunday.

Aduana secured victory with a 98th-minute winner, but the match was followed by an alleged attack on the Karela contingent.

Reports indicate that a section of Aduana supporters gained access to the restricted safety and security area and pelted the Karela team bus with missiles, smashing some of its windows.

Some Karela officials and technical team members were also reportedly subjected to physical harassment.

Karela subsequently lodged an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service over the alleged security breach and assault.

The GFA has now formally charged Aduana, who have until Wednesday, September 23, 2026, to respond to the allegations.

The club’s response will determine the next stage of the disciplinary process.
