President John Dramani Mahama has used a high-profile appearance at the Nasdaq Stock Market in New York to signal Ghana’s renewed push to attract global investment.

President Mahama delivered the message after ringing the closing bell at Nasdaq, where he was also featured on the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square with the bold message, “Ghana Is Open for Business.”

The display formed part of Ghana’s investment drive in the United States and set the tone for the U.S.-Ghana Presidential Roundtable, which brought Ghana’s investment ambitions before an international business audience.

The President used the occasion to position Ghana as a destination for investors seeking opportunities, partnerships and long-term growth.

The Nasdaq appearance comes as the government seeks to strengthen investor confidence and present Ghana as an economy ready to attract more private capital.

The U.S.-Ghana Presidential Roundtable is expected to provide a platform for discussions between Ghanaian officials and international investors on investment opportunities and partnerships across key sectors of the economy.

By taking Ghana’s investment message to one of the world’s most recognised financial markets, the government is seeking to raise the country’s profile among global businesses and investors.

The message displayed in Times Square, “Ghana Is Open for Business,” served as a central theme of Ghana’s renewed effort to attract investment and deepen its economic ties with the United States.
