Madina MP Sosu doing well after ‘collapsing’ during GIMPA speech - Ivan Dzakpasu

Madina Member of Parliament Francis-Xavier Sosu is reportedly in stable condition after he became unsteady while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

A statement from his office said the MP has received medical attention and is doing well following the incident.

It also cautioned the public against relying on unconfirmed information and speculation being shared online.

The statement, signed by the MP’s Chief of Staff, Ivan Dzakpasu, said the office had become aware of videos, reports and other material circulating on social media about what happened during the event.

“The Office of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, has taken note of reports, videos, and other content circulating on social media concerning an incident involving the Honourable Member during a speech at GIMPA today,” the statement said.

The office thanked constituents, supporters and other well-wishers who have reached out with prayers and messages of concern since news of the incident emerged.

It further appealed for calm, indicating that any additional information considered necessary would be released through the MP’s official communication platforms.

Sosu was addressing an audience at GIMPA when he appeared to experience difficulty maintaining his balance.

At the time, he was speaking about his leadership journey and the various opportunities he has had to serve.

He had been recounting his experiences at St John’s Grammar School, where he began his leadership career as a class captain before taking on other student leadership roles, including SRC General Secretary and Senior Boys Prefect.

As he continued with his address, his movements appeared to become unsteady and his delivery became difficult to follow.

Two individuals who were near him then stepped forward to support him after he appeared to slump and nearly collapsed.

He was later helped from the auditorium as concern grew among those present.

His office has not provided details about what caused the incident but has maintained that he is doing well after receiving the necessary medical attention.
