Woman reportedly crushed to death by grader at project site

A young woman identified as Mariama has reportedly died in an accident at a road construction site along the Penyi-Dzodze stretch in the Volta Region.

The accident occurred at a construction site where work is ongoing under the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure initiative to dualise and upgrade major highways in the Volta Region.

Volta Joy TV shared the news on social media on September 24, 2026.

According to the post, Mariama was working at the site and was tasked with sorting unwanted materials from crushed stones and gravel being used for the construction.

She was reportedly run over by a grader operating at the site, resulting in her death at the scene.

Two other people are also said to have been involved in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at the St Anthony Hospital in Dzodze.

The incident has reportedly left her family, friends, colleagues and residents in shock.
