Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to make at least two changes to his starting XI when the Black Stars face The Gambia in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Alexander Djiku is unavailable after picking up an injury during Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké, with Jonas Adjetey expected to come into the defence alongside Jerome Opoku.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi is expected to retain his place in goal, having started the opening qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire.

At full-back, Gideon Mensah is likely to continue on the left, while Kojo Peprah Oppong could start on the right as Queiroz reshapes his backline for the Accra Sports Stadium clash.

In midfield, Kwasi Sibo is expected to keep his place, with Caleb Yirenkyi again likely to partner him in the centre.

Queiroz could retain the attacking trio of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Ernest Nuamah and Brandon Thomas-Asante, with the three expected to operate behind a central striker.

Felix Afena-Gyan could lead the line, giving Ghana an additional attacking option as they look to respond to their opening-day defeat.

The Black Stars need a result against The Gambia after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire, while the Scorpions enter the game with three points following their 2-1 win over Somalia.

Probable Ghana XI: Ati-Zigi; Oppong Peprah, Jonas Adjetey, Jerome Opoku, Gideon Mensah; Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi; Fatawu Issahaku, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante; Felix Afena-Gyan.
