Senegalese journalist Bamba has faced backlash on social media from Ghanaian media personnel over claims that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) mistreated The Gambia national team upon their arrival in Ghana.

In a strongly worded social media post, the journalist alleged that The Gambia team was not provided with a police escort after arriving at the airport and also travelled from their hotel to the stadium without one.

The journalist further claimed that upon arriving at the Accra Sports Stadium for their final training session, The Gambian delegation was denied access to a dressing room and had to change on the pitch.

The claims were accompanied by a video showing the Gambian team arriving at the stadium for training, with one official heard expressing frustration over the alleged lack of a police escort.

However, the claims were sharply rebuked and denied by other sports journalists in the country, who called him out for spreading what they described as false news.

They indicated that it is understood there were delays, but they were eventually attended to, and urged Bamba to desist from creating unnecessary tension ahead of the game.

Others slammed his online commentary for allegedly tarnishing the nation’s image, noting that Ghana is regarded as a hospitable destination. The Black Stars are expected to defeat The Gambia convincingly at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29, 2026.
