Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has indicated that he will not resign from his position despite calls from some Ghanaians for him to step down following the team’s latest defeat.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Queiroz described resignation as the “easiest solution” after a disappointing result but questioned whether his departure would solve the problems facing Ghana football.

“When we have one result like this, the option to resign is the easiest solution. It’s the easiest solution,” he said.

“If you believe that with the coach resigning you can change the situation of football in Ghana, I’ll be the first one to resign. I don’t have that belief, but that is a decision that should be for the board of the federation to analyse and decide with me.”

Queiroz maintained that one defeat does not define his coaching career, insisting that setbacks should instead provide lessons for improvement.

“This defeat doesn’t make me a loser. This defeat makes me be more alert for the lessons that we take from the games and what we have to do in the future, with me or without me,” he stated.

The Portuguese coach added that his philosophy is to learn from disappointing results rather than dwell on them.

“I have a result that was not positive, but for me, you win or you learn. We learned in the last game things that we should do better,” he said.

Reflecting on the match, Queiroz said Ghana had controlled proceedings and scored twice before incidents in the first half affected the team’s performance.

“The result, we cannot make it step back, but what we can do is be better prepared, better organised for the next games and win the next games. This is what we have to do,” he concluded.
