Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company
The Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC), Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, has clarified that he is not the individual declared wanted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over alleged offences of defrauding by false pretences and money laundering.
EOCO on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, declared a man identified as Wisdom Dogbey wanted in connection with the alleged offences.
However, in a statement published on Facebook on Wednesday, September 30, the CMC Managing Director said the wanted notice did not concern him.
Dogbey said he had become aware of media reports about an individual bearing the name “Wisdom Dogbey” and felt compelled to clarify the matter to prevent confusion and unintended association.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I am not the person referred to in those reports,” he stated.
He identified himself as Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited, stressing that the reports concerning the individual wanted by EOCO did not relate to him.
According to him, the use of the name “Wisdom Dogbey” in headlines without sufficient identification could understandably lead to confusion, particularly given his position and public profile.
He therefore urged media houses, digital platforms and members of the public to exercise caution and verify identities before attributing reports of alleged criminal offences to individuals.
Dogbey said he remained focused on his responsibilities at CMC and efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position in the global cocoa trade.
He also thanked individuals who had contacted him out of concern and those who sought clarification following the publication of the EOCO notice.
