He had earlier rung the closing bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square as part of his engagements with the international business community on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
NASDAQ described the ceremony as symbolic of the economic ties between Ghana and the United States and Ghana’s openness to business.
During the event, President Mahama used the global platform to promote Ghana as an investment destination, declaring that the country was “open for business.”
Following the ceremony, President Mahama reiterated his slogan, “Ghana Is Open for Business,” as he sought to attract investors to the country.
The NASDAQ appearance was followed by a dialogue with the Ghanaian community in the United States.
The discussions focused on strengthening trade and investment ties between Ghana and the United States, with attention to sectors including manufacturing, agro-processing, energy, mining, technology and health.
President Mahama’s NASDAQ appearance formed part of his broader programme in New York for the 81st UN General Assembly, where he engaged world leaders, international institutions and private-sector stakeholders.
