Before the game got underway, Ayew and Gyan were captured sharing a warm embrace as they reunited at the stadium.

Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer, served as captain of the Black Stars for several years before his international career came to an end.

Ayew, meanwhile, succeeded Gyan as Ghana captain and went on to become one of the country's most capped players.

The two were key figures during Ghana’s golden period in international football, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, where the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals.
