Donald Trump is the United States of America's president
The United States government has revoked more than 250,000 visas since President Donald Trump returned to office as part of efforts to tighten checks on foreigners entering the country.
According to a report by American media outlet Fox News on September 30, 2026, the US State Department stated that the visa cancellations involved various violations.

These included breaking visa conditions, committing crimes, violence against the US or Americans, defrauding Americans, abusing the immigration system, and posing national security risks.
Additionally, about 2,300 of the revoked visas were linked to birth tourism, where pregnant foreign nationals travel to the US specifically to give birth so their children can automatically acquire US citizenship.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the number of revoked visas reflects the administration’s tougher approach to immigration and national security.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Rubio, the State Department has now revoked more than 250,000 visas — a historic milestone that reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting the American people,” he said.
He added that the US was using continuous checks to identify visa holders who commit crimes, support terrorism, defraud Americans or abuse the immigration system.
“A U.S. visa is a privilege, not a right — and if you violate the terms of that privilege, you will lose it,” Pigott said.
The Trump administration has also been preparing to revoke business and tourist visas held by as many as 200,000 foreigners who later applied for asylum in the US.
The affected visas are B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 to foreigners who subsequently sought asylum.

US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau previously said Americans were “fed up” with what he described as “bogus asylum claims.”
He said frivolous asylum applications had put pressure on the system, with some cases taking years to determine whether applicants qualify for asylum.
