Mohammed Polo is a Former Black Stars player
Ghana football legend Mohammed Polo has backed Kassim Mingle as a potential candidate for the Black Stars head coach position, insisting he is the local coach who has impressed him most in recent times.
Polo was speaking about the need for the Ghana Football Association to consider a Ghanaian coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz.
The former Black Stars midfielder questioned the suitability of some local coaches, citing their previous stints with Ghana's youth national teams.
He mentioned Laryea Kingston, who previously handled Ghana's U-17 team, as one of the coaches he does not currently consider ready for the senior national team job.
“Laryea Kingston does not have the heart,” Polo said.

Polo also referenced Maxwell Konadu's time with the national U-20 team while discussing the limited options available to Ghana.
However, he singled out Kassim Mingle as the coach who has caught his attention, particularly for his work with Ghana's youth sides and his recent success at club level.
“To me, Kassim Mingle is the only one I compare,” Polo said.
Mingle has previously worked with Ghana's youth national teams and has also enjoyed spells at club level, including leading Bibiani Gold Stars to notable performances.
When asked whether Mingle would be a perfect fit for the Black Stars, Polo suggested that he would prefer a combination involving another experienced Ghanaian coach.
“If they have to add somebody to him, then I'll even prepare this guy,” he said, appearing to advocate for Mingle to be supported by experienced coach Karim Zito.
