A Ghanaian man living in Germany has advised a fellow Ghanaian not to return to Ghana if he has established a comfortable life abroad, citing what he described as the intense financial and social pressures associated with life back home.

The elderly man made the remarks after meeting another Ghanaian in Berlin, Germany, in a video that has since been shared widely on social media.

During their conversation, he advised the younger man to remain in Germany rather than return to Ghana, arguing that returning home without significant financial resources could expose him to considerable pressure.

According to him, the financial expectations placed on people who return home after spending years abroad can become overwhelming.

“For you to go home, then stay here and die. There is so much pressure back home. I have a daughter who is a nurse and twins who are working with another child, and due to the pressure, I have come here.

He explained that despite having children who are working, he still felt compelled to remain in Germany because of the financial pressures he associated with life in Ghana.

“So, for me to go back home to Ghana, I will stay here and die. If you don’t have billions of money, don’t go there because the pressure will kill you, so stay here.”
