Edward Anato, a member of the Presbyterian Senior High School, Bompata team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), has died in a car accident.

Anato reportedly died in a crash on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The National Science and Maths Quiz announced his death on its social media page on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and paid tribute to the young student.

The organisers described Anato as a “brilliant student whose curiosity and courage stood out during the competition.”

Anato was part of the Presbyterian SHS, Bompata team that made its third appearance in the NSMQ and achieved a historic milestone by reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in the school's history in 2026.

His performance on the NSMQ stage earned him recognition as one of the students who contributed to the school's impressive campaign in this year's competition.

According to reports, Anato was due to report to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on October 13, 2026, to begin his studies in Computer Science.
