Head Pastor of Holy Hill Chapel, Rev Dr Kwadwo Bempah, has criticised the new regulation banning preaching on public transport, warning that efforts to restrict evangelism will not succeed.

Speaking during a recent church service, Rev Bempah questioned why preaching on buses should be prohibited when other activities involving loudspeakers are tolerated.

“Now they say we shouldn't preach on the bus, as if they bought the bus for somebody,” he said.

He argued that Christians should not remain silent in the face of what he described as attempts to restrict the spread of Christianity.

“But you will not succeed, though. What you are trying to do, you will not succeed,” he said.

Rev Bempah insisted that Christians would continue preaching wherever people gather, including schools and other public spaces.

“Wherever human beings gather, we will preach. Wherever human beings gather, the word must go forth,” he declared.

He also urged Christians not to prioritise pleasing people over their faith, saying, “Never please people to displace God.”

His comments come after a new regulation targeting preaching and hawking on public service vehicles while they are in motion began to be enforced.

Under the new road traffic regulation, anyone found preaching in public service vehicles could face up to eight months in prison, a fine or both.

The regulation, passed by Parliament in May 2026, classifies such activities as a nuisance, citing concerns over the safety and comfort of passengers.
