The President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Kwabena Yeboah, has come under social media scrutiny for his perceived silence on developments in Ghanaian football.

After head coach Carlos Queiroz resigned following the Black Stars’ back-to-back defeats to Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the GFA has faced backlash for what critics describe as mishandling football affairs.

The association has been accused of incompetence in appointing national team coaches, with the Black Stars having had about seven managers during Kurt Okraku’s seven-year tenure in office.

Amid the vehement criticisms, the veteran sports journalist has not been heard publicly commenting on the matter personally. However, SWAG has demanded a complete overhaul of Ghana football and urged the GFA to step aside.

The move, however, has failed to appease some football fans and sporting personalities who believe he has not been as vociferous as he is known to be when things go astray.

Some have accused him of being in bed with the GFA, alleging that he reportedly joins the Black Stars on international assignments and enjoys financial entitlements associated with such travels, hence what they describe as his deafening silence on the rot in Ghana football.

Fans have urged him to speak up, personally point out the dwindling fortunes of the game to the GFA leadership, and take further action rather than releasing a statement through the association.
