Dr Zanetor pushes stronger Ghana-ESO collaboration in space science
Sharing photos from the event on Facebook, Dr Zanetor said meeting the astronaut offered her an opportunity to reflect on what investment in science and knowledge can achieve.
Alexander Gerst has spent 363 days in space across two missions to the International Space Station (ISS), including serving as Commander of the ISS.
Dr Zanetor said his journey was a reminder that achievements in space begin with what happens on Earth, particularly through education, curiosity, scientific inquiry and discipline.
She said the experience was especially relevant to Ghana as the country works to build its capabilities in space science and technology.
“For Ghana, this is particularly relevant as we build our capabilities in space science and technology,” she said.
Dr Zanetor stressed the need to expose young Ghanaians to opportunities that can help them think beyond current limitations.
“We must give our young people the knowledge, exposure and opportunities to think beyond our present limitations,” she added.
“The sky should not be the limit,” he concluded.
