Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has stated that the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, will be asked to step aside if investigations find him culpable in the 2026 FIFA World Cup scandal.

Speaking to 3news on the matter, Shamima Muslim said the government will allow the ongoing investigations to establish the facts before taking any decision on the Minister.

She stressed that the outcome of the investigations will determine whether the Sports Minister should remain in office.

“If the Sports Minister is found culpable after the investigations, he will be asked to step aside,” Shamima Muslim said.

Her comments come amid allegations surrounding Ghana’s participation in the 2026 World Cup and claims of financial impropriety and visa-related issues involving officials who travelled to the United States for the tournament.

The allegations have since triggered calls for investigations, with the government insisting that due process must be followed to establish responsibility.
