The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has directed the recovery of GH¢33,100 owed to Pantang Hospital by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly for treating persons with mental health conditions found on the streets.

The amount comprises GH¢17,000 owed by the GMA and GH¢16,100 in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support owed by the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly.

The debts came to light when the Committee examined the 2025 Auditor-General’s Reports on departments and agencies under the Ministry of Health.

The reports covered selected health directorates and institutions across the Western, Western North, Volta, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah, Central, Oti and Greater Accra regions, as well as the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine.

The Committee expressed concern over the recurrence of similar audit infractions in public institutions and urged officials to revisit the findings, submit updated responses and ensure that recommendations made by auditors are fully implemented.

It also directed the relevant officials to recover outstanding amounts and pay them into the prescribed accounts, stressing the need for public institutions to address audit findings and improve accountability in the management of public funds.
