Hamza Suhuyini is private legal practitioner and and a member of the NDC
Lawyer Hamza Suhuyini, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, has dismissed suggestions that electing John Boadu as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could pose a problem for the NDC in the 2028 general election.
“John Boadu has been a General Secretary before, but he failed to secure re-election for his party and was replaced by Justin Kodua Frimpong,” he said on Tamale-based Saganai TV monitored by MyNewsgh.com.
According to him, the NPP has been dead for a very long time and will not be a problem for the NDC ahead of 2028.
“They think the executives they have elected can resurrect the dead NPP, but it’s not possible. That’s why, after their elections, nobody is talking about them again,” he stated.
Suhuyini added that even some NPP supporters are unhappy with the new executives and doubt they can return the party to power in 2028.
“I wonder why they would think a former General Secretary who failed miserably in the past can win them power come 2028,” he noted.
Responding to Suhuyini’s claims, Haruna Mohammed of the NPP communications team said the NDC has no standing to criticise elected executives for failing to win power before.
“If the claim is that whoever fails to win power for their party cannot lead the party, then Asiedu Nketiah should not have been elected National Chairman of the NDC,” he insisted.
Mr Mohammed pointed out that Asiedu Nketiah was the NDC’s General Secretary when the party suffered an overwhelming defeat in the 2016 general elections. Even so, he said, the party did not abandon him and later elected him National Chairman.
