The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has ordered all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to immediately stop campaigning, warning that violators could face disciplinary action that may affect their eligibility to contest.

In a statement dated October 11, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said it had received several complaints that some members seeking to contest parliamentary seats had already begun campaigning in various constituencies.

The party described the activities as a breach of its regulations and Code of Conduct, warning that they could create an uneven playing field and undermine party unity and discipline.

“With immediate effect, all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters” are to cease all forms of campaign activities, the statement said.

The directive prohibits aspirants from mounting posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials to promote their ambitions.

It also bars them from organising rallies, holding meetings with polling station executives or embarking on tours to solicit support. The distribution of items or other inducements to delegates and party members is equally prohibited.

The NPP further directed aspirants to stop paid media and social media advertisements promoting their candidacies.

Party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, as well as members of TESCON, have also been warned against using social media platforms such as Facebook, X and Instagram to promote any parliamentary aspirant.

The party said its officers must not facilitate what it described as premature parliamentary aspirant activities.

It warned that anyone who disregards the directive would be dealt with under its disciplinary procedures, adding that such action could affect the person's eligibility to contest in the party's parliamentary primaries.

The NPP said it would announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes in due course.

Constituency and regional executives have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the directive in their respective jurisdictions.

The party called on its members to cooperate with the leadership as it seeks to maintain discipline and ensure a fair process ahead of the parliamentary contests.
