Justin Kodua Frimpong is the General Secretary of the NPP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to suspend campaign activities with immediate effect.
The directive, contained in a statement issued by the party on Sunday, October 11, 2026, follows complaints that some members aspiring to contest parliamentary primaries have begun campaigning in various constituencies.

The statement, signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the practice contravenes the party’s regulations and Code of Conduct.
“Such conduct is contrary to the Party’s regulations and Code of Conduct. It creates an uneven playing field and undermines the unity and discipline on which the Party’s success depends,” the statement said.
The party outlined several activities that must cease, including the mounting of posters, billboards, banners and other campaign materials.
It also prohibited the organisation of rallies, polling station executives’ meetings and tours intended to solicit support for prospective parliamentary candidates.
Additionally, aspirants and their supporters have been directed to stop distributing items or other inducements to delegates and party members, as well as paid media and social media advertisements promoting their candidacies.
The NPP further warned party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, including the TESCON, against promoting any prospective parliamentary aspirant on social media or facilitating premature campaign activities.
According to the statement, anyone who fails to comply with the directive will face disciplinary action under the party’s established procedures.
“Any person who fails to comply will be dealt with in accordance with the Party’s disciplinary procedures, which may affect their eligibility to contest,” it warned.
The party said the directive was intended to maintain fairness among prospective aspirants and protect internal unity ahead of its parliamentary selection processes.
It added that the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary processes would be announced in due course.
Constituency and regional executives have also been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the directive within their respective jurisdictions.
“The Party counts on the cooperation of all members,” the statement concluded.
