Paul Kwabena Yandoh, the former Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a close associate of Chairman Wontumi, has given an account of the conditions of the latter, who is currently serving a jail term at Nsawam Prison.

In a video shared on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on October 14, 2026, Paul Yandoh claimed that Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, sleeps in a cell with about 50 inmates.

According to him, rumours circulating on social media that Chairman Wontumi sleeps in a special room and is being treated differently are false.

“I have been visiting him in jail, and what you have heard is totally different from what I have seen. Wontumi’s cell contains about 50 inmates,” he said.

Paul Yandoh additionally claimed that Chairman Wontumi sleeps on a student mattress, adding that the former Ashanti Regional Chairman gets only half of the mattress to sleep on.

“He sleeps on a student mattress, and even with that, he gets half of the mattress to sleep on. Who says if you are politically inclined, you will be treated differently?

“Get into trouble and see, and you will know the kind of instructions you will follow when you get there,” he added.
