Henry Nana Boakye is the Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party
Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has dismissed claims that the party’s First Vice Chairman, Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, previously worked as his driver and bodyguard.
Nana B said Bamba was rather responsible for operations and security during his tenure as National Youth Organiser and later as National Organiser of the party.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com on October 15, 2026, he said he had worked with Bamba for more than 10 years and had confidence in his abilities.
“I have heard a lot of narratives that he was my driver; he was my bodyguard. He was never my driver. He was never my bodyguard,” he said.
He explained that he had appointed Bamba to oversee operations and security for the NPP’s national youth wing before assigning him similar responsibilities at the office of the National Organiser.
“I rather appointed him to be in charge of the national youth wing’s operations and security. And again, when I was National Organiser, I appointed him again to be in charge of operations and security at the office of the National Organiser,” he indicated.
Who is Kojo Bamba? The man trending after the NPP Conference
Nana B said Bamba’s experience and campaign message contributed to his election as First Vice Chairman, adding that he was not surprised by the outcome.
He also dismissed concerns that their previous working relationship could create difficulties in their current roles, stressing that cooperation among the party’s leadership was necessary.
“What is important is for us to work together. And as I said, we have already worked together for 10 years and we’ve had some results,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Bamba would bring a distinct contribution to the NPP’s efforts to regain power in the 2028 general elections.
“I believe that he is going to add something very unique to our quest to recapture power in 2028,” he added.
Bamba was elected First Vice Chairman during the NPP’s national executive elections held in Kumasi on October 3, 2026.
He secured 3,116 votes to defeat 12 other candidates in the contest.
