Malik Jabir is a former player of Asante Kotoko
Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir has expressed disappointment after claiming he was asked to pay money before entering the stadium to watch the club’s Ghana Premier League game against Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
In an interview with Obaapa Sports Centre, Jabir, a former player and coach of the Porcupine Warriors, said he decided to leave the venue rather than pay to watch the match.
“I was asked to pay money before I entered the stadium to watch Kotoko’s home game against Aduana FC, so I left,” he said.
Jabir is a celebrated figure in Kotoko’s history, having won the CAF Champions League twice with the Kumasi-based club. He was also appointed the club’s technical director in November 2024.
Kwesi Nyantakyi declines to comment on current state of Ghana football
His comments come after Kotoko suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on September 27, 2026, in their Matchday Four fixture of the Ghana Premier League.
Aduana took an early lead through Stephen Amankona before Raymond Agyemang was sent off in the first half. Despite playing with 10 men, the visitors defended resolutely before Seidu Saana scored in stoppage time to seal the victory.
Asante Kotoko have yet to respond to the claim in the reports available.
