SHS student dies after collapsing during school event - Report

A 15-year-old student of Ada Senior High Technical School (ASTECH), Monde Agyemang, has died after reportedly collapsing during a sporting activity at the school.

Monde collapsed on Thursday, October 15, 2026, during an activity organised as part of the school’s Girls’ Education Week celebration. The day also marked her 15th birthday, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.

She was rushed to the Sege Polyclinic but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the Ada West District Director of Education, Dr Stephen Arthur, has said that the cause of her death is not yet known and that arrangements are being made for an autopsy.

He said Monde had enrolled at the school about three weeks before the incident and had no known medical condition declared on her admission form.

Her body has since been transferred to the General Hospital while the police investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
