Bosome-Freho MP Nana Asafo-Adjei has questioned the reliability of records submitted by the Foreign Affairs Ministry for Ghana’s evacuation exercise in South Africa, alleging that 42 entries were duplicated in documents covering payments to evacuees.

He said his examination of the records provided by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed repeated entries, raising questions about whether the same individuals had been recorded more than once.

He challenged the ministry to explain the repetitions and establish whether they affected the reported figures or payments.

“How do you account for the duplicates? Did you pay them double? Did they come two times?” he asked.

Asafo-Adjei also questioned entries bearing signatures attributed to very young children, including a one-year-old and a six-month-old. He rejected the explanation that parents might have signed on behalf of minors, arguing that the records related to individual recipients of the reintegration package.

He said the discrepancies needed to be addressed before the ministry’s figures could be accepted as reliable.
