Data released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa has revealed several inconsistencies and discrepancies, including records showing that some returnees were born in future years.

The evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa has become a subject of controversy in recent weeks after the Minority in Parliament demanded a full breakdown of the number of evacuees and the cost of the exercise.

Following the release of the data by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at least 14 names with seemingly impossible personal details have reportedly emerged, raising concerns about the accuracy and credibility of the records, according to a Joy News report on October 19, 2026.

In one of the documents sighted, some individuals listed as beneficiaries of the evacuation exercise have dates of birth that are either in the future or do not exist on the calendar.

One of the individuals, identified as Precious Sekyiwaa, is recorded as having been born on October 28, 2034, a date that is yet to occur.

Another individual, James Akoto Baffour, is listed as having been born on December 26, 2036, also a future date.

Similarly, Victoria Aduakwa is recorded as having been born in 2034, while Ebenezer Losu's year of birth is captured as 20232.

In another instance, an individual identified as David Botwey is recorded as having been born on the fourth day of the 24th month in 1989, an impossible date since a calendar year has only 12 months.

The data also reportedly includes an evacuee whose date of birth is captured as February 31, 1990, even though February has never had more than 29 days.

These discrepancies have raised questions about whether the irregularities resulted from errors during data entry or could point to a broader issue involving the management of the evacuation exercise.

The revelations come amid growing scrutiny over the reported GH¢49.7 million spent by the government to evacuate Ghanaians from South Africa.
