Students of Tetrefu Technical Institute at Sewua in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government and other stakeholders to urgently address infrastructure and equipment shortages they say are affecting teaching and learning at the institution.
The students are calling for additional classrooms, dual desks, technical training tools and equipment, as well as separate dormitories for male and female students, to improve their learning conditions and strengthen practical skills training.
Their appeal comes as the school's Old Students Association steps in to support ongoing development efforts with a donation of 500 building blocks.
The donation is expected to contribute to the institution's infrastructure development, but the students say more support is needed to address their outstanding needs and provide a more conducive environment for learning.
Speaking to the media, Apostle Eric Ofori, who led the Piase branch of the Old Students Association, appealed to the government, the District Chief Executive and other stakeholders, including Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, to support the school's development.
He said sustained assistance from government and other well-meaning individuals and organisations would help address the institution's infrastructure challenges and improve conditions for both students and teachers.
The students are hopeful that their concerns will receive the necessary attention, particularly as technical and vocational education plays an important role in equipping young people with practical skills for employment and self-reliance.
They believe that providing adequate classrooms, appropriate accommodation, furniture and training equipment would help create a better learning environment and enable them to acquire the technical competencies needed for their future careers.

While the donation of 500 blocks represents a contribution towards the school's development, the students' appeal underscores the need for broader stakeholder support to ensure that Tetrefu Technical Institute has the facilities and equipment required to deliver effective technical education.
