The Black Maidens of Ghana put up a spirited performance against Brazil U17 on Wednesday night to draw 3-3 with the side in their second match at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

In the game that produced six goals, the Black Maidens had to come back from behind twice to secure a point at the end of the contest.

Brazil had a bright start to the match and took an early lead when Nicolly found the back of the Ghana net just seven minutes into the first half.

Pegged behind, the Black Maidens kept working hard and finally got their reward in the 31st minute. Rafia Osman equalised to restore parity and keep Ghana in the game.

Then four minutes later, Gloria Ameaa added a second for Ghana to take the lead against the favourites, Brazil.

Unfortunately, Ghana could not hold onto the lead into the break as Kaillany Rafinah scored in the 44th minute to make it 2-2.

After recess, Brazil again started more purposefully than the Black Maidens. A strike from Indy in the 57th minute gave the side a 3-2 lead as they pegged back Ghana for a second time in the game.

Late in the match, when it seemed the Black Maidens would lose their second match, Priscilla Mensah scored in the 85th minute to force the clash to end in a 3-3 draw.

With a point from two matches, the Black Maidens sit bottom in Group C but with a chance to advance to the next round.

The team will next play against Canada in what will be a difficult match.
