President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has defended the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, over criticism linked to the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.

In an X post on October 28, 2026, Cudjoe said those accusing Ablakwa of wrongdoing had not provided convincing evidence that he committed any crime in the humanitarian exercise.

“None, No one shouting and making noise has so far been able to convince any sensible Ghanaian that the Foreign Minister has committed any crime in the humanitarian evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa,” he wrote.

According to him, those criticising the minister should not be taken seriously, describing their arguments as more suited to entertainment than serious public debate.

“Ignore the noisy gang whose presentations are at best passing for entertainment of Clowns in a bazaar!” he stated.

Cudjoe also praised Ablakwa’s work, describing him as one of the most effective Foreign Affairs Ministers Ghana has had since 1992.

He added that Ablakwa’s achievements speak for themselves, insisting that the minister would neither resign nor be dismissed from his post.

“Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is going NO WHERE! He remains our most diligent, effective, efficient and impactful Foreign Minister since 1992!” he added.

The debate follows allegations of irregularities in the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa, particularly over the allowances reportedly promised to the returnees. Some returnees have claimed that they received less than the amounts they were promised.

Against this backdrop, the Minority Caucus in Parliament has called for Ablakwa to resign as Foreign Affairs Minister. They have also urged President John Dramani Mahama to dismiss Ablakwa if he refuses to resign voluntarily.
