Several prominent members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including former National Chairman Freddie Blay, First Vice Chairman, Kojo Bamba and former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, have joined the ‘Aaagbe Wɔ Demo’ protest against the demolition of structures at La Pleasure Beach.

The party figures joined demonstrators in Labadi, Accra, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as members of the Ga-Dangme Progressive Front marched to express their concerns about the demolitions and their impact on businesses and livelihoods.

Freddy Blay, who described himself as a victim of the demolitions, said the exercise was destroying businesses and livelihoods despite the Ga-Dangme people's long-standing hospitality towards people from different backgrounds.

He expressed concern about the plight of residents and business operators whose livelihoods depend on activities at the beach.

Titus Glover led the protestors to pour libation ahead of the demonstration, invoking traditional deities to intervene in the matter.

He called on the deities to fight whoever was responsible for the demolition exercise, bringing a spiritual dimension to the protest.

Kojo Bamba, the NPP's First Vice Chairman, was also seen marching alongside the demonstrators and interacting with police officers as the crowd moved towards Jubilee House.

Also, present was the NPP's Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, who demanded the immediate resignation of La Dadekotopon Member of Parliament Rita Naa Odoley Sowah over the demolitions.

Speaking to journalists at the demonstration, Dr Okoe Boye questioned how the MP, who also serves as a deputy minister responsible for local government, could claim to be unaware of the exercise while serving in government.

“The MP for La, she must resign today. How can you be the chief spokesperson for your people? Be a deputy minister for local government. You sit in government with these people, and then they'll come and break it, and you come and cry that you don't know anything about it,” he said.

He argued that if the MP was indeed unaware of the demolitions, it raised questions about whether her position in government was being respected.

The ‘Aaagbe Wɔ Demo’ protest follows the demolition of structures at La Pleasure Beach, which has sparked concerns about the loss of businesses, jobs and livelihoods among affected residents and operators.
