President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that he regularly monitors complaints and concerns raised by Ghanaians on social media, particularly TikTok, and forwards relevant issues to the respective ministers for action.
Speaking during an engagement with the Ghanaian community in Moscow on October 30, 2026, Mahama said social media had become an important tool for governance because it allowed him to receive information about developments across the country in real time.

He explained that he sometimes comes across videos of people complaining about poor roads, damaged infrastructure and other community challenges and immediately draws the attention of the responsible ministers.
The President further encouraged Ghanaians, including researchers, professionals and experts, to speak up whenever they believe the government is taking the country in the wrong direction.
He urged Ghanaians not to remain silent when they notice developments that could negatively affect the country.
"I don't mind if people tell me that I'm leading the country in the wrong direction. I'm trying to do my best. Criticism helps me to do better. There are sometimes I go on the media and I see something and I call the minister and say my friend what is happening in your sector ... and I said oh you better take care because I've seen this you know and it helps me to be a better leader so all your Tik Toks and things don't think I don't see them I see them
Recounting a recent example, the President said he had seen a report about a bridge allegedly affected by illegal mining activities in the Ashanti Region while he was in Moscow.
He said he forwarded the video to the Ashanti Regional Minister, asking him to investigate the situation.
According to Mahama, the minister visited the area and later informed him that a blocked channel was responsible for the problem, adding that an excavator was being deployed to clear it and allow water to flow freely.
"That's how you solve some of these issues. The new media is an advantage because it gives us information in real time," he said.
President Mahama said he also forwards complaints about feeder roads to the Minister of Roads and Highways, reminding ministers that public concerns shared online should not be ignored.
