‘Empty lawyer’, ‘Thief’ vs ‘Go to Law School’ - Tempers flare as Miracles clashes with Akwatia MP

Akwatia Member of Parliament, Bernard Bediako, clashed with the National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Miracles Aboagye, during a discussion on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

The heated exchange began when the two panelists on the show traded accusations of corruption, with each questioning the other's integrity.

The Akwatia MP accused Miracles of having his assets confiscated by EOCO over alleged corruption-related activities.

However, Miracles, visibly displeased by the allegation, fired back, describing the MP as an "empty lawyer" and a "thief."

He further accused the legislator of being implicated in an alleged corruption-related dispute involving a pastor who had reportedly accused the MP of stealing from him.

The confrontation quickly escalated as both panelists exchanged sharp words and allegations.

“You are an empty lawyer and a thief; you cannot do anything to me. Let this be your first and last. When the pastor said you stole his money, did anyone arrest you? Don't ever try me again,” he said.

Bediako, however, responded by insisting that the money in question was not public funds.

“It is not public money,” the Akwatia MP replied.
