The suspect is a Syrian national
Ghanaian and Lebanese drug enforcement authorities worked together to arrest a Syrian national at Beirut International Airport after he arrived from Accra with approximately 40 kilograms of suspected cocaine.
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) said the arrest on Saturday, October 31, 2026, followed a coordinated controlled delivery operation involving law enforcement agencies in both countries.
According to the Commission, the joint exercise was designed to identify and apprehend suspects at both ends of the drug supply chain while gathering intelligence to dismantle the transnational criminal network behind the shipment.
The suspect was identified only by the initials BH. Customs officers and Lebanon's General Security followed him from the plane, watched him collect the bags and then searched his luggage. Apple AirTag tracking devices were reportedly hidden among the packages.
