The National President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), Michael Abbiw, has urged businesses to invest in the training and development of marketing professionals as artificial intelligence (AI) continues to transform the industry.

According to him, the growing use of technology in marketing requires professionals to acquire new skills and deepen their knowledge to remain relevant in the changing business environment.

Speaking at CIMG’s 3rd Graduation, 45th Induction and Conferment Ceremony on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Abbiw explained that marketing was no longer limited to promoting products and increasing sales but had become an important driver of business growth.

“At its best, marketing helps organisations understand people, create genuine value, build trust and grow sustainably,” he said.

He noted that Ghana needed marketing professionals who could adapt to new technologies, make sound business decisions and help companies achieve results while maintaining high ethical standards.

Abbiw also encouraged employers to support their workers in acquiring professional qualifications and becoming members of CIMG, stressing the importance of skilled professionals in building successful businesses.

“Stronger practitioners build stronger organisations,” he stated.

As part of the ceremony, CIMG launched a new digital membership portal and a redesigned corporate website to make its services more accessible to members.

The platform will allow members to update their information, confirm their membership status, access certificates and receive updates on training opportunities.

The Institute also introduced a job portal to connect marketing professionals with employment opportunities.

Abbiw urged companies to advertise vacancies in marketing, communications, sales, brand management and other related fields through the platform.

He further advised newly inducted members and graduates to use their knowledge to solve business problems, improve customer service and support the growth of their organisations.

He stressed that professional qualifications should translate into practical results and responsible decision-making.
