Ghana international Marvin Senaya has returned to action after spending four months on the sidelines with an injury as Auxerre suffered a heavy defeat to Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1.

The Black Stars defender made his long-awaited comeback as a second-half substitute in the Week 9 encounter held at the Stade de la Meinau.

Senaya was introduced in the 63rd minute, replacing Congolese international Christ Makosso, but could not prevent Auxerre from suffering a 5-1 defeat.

Dário Essugo, Hugo Oliveira, Martial Godo and Gessime Yassine, who grabbed a brace, were on target for Strasbourg to secure a convincing victory.

The Ghanaian full-back had missed the start of the 2026/27 campaign after sustaining a serious injury during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Before his setback, Senaya had impressed for the Black Stars during the tournament, helping Ghana secure a place in the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.

His return to competitive action will come as a boost for Ghana as the Black Stars prepare for their double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
