Queen Máxima of the Netherlands will visit the Bank of Ghana on November 4 and 5, 2026, for talks on helping Ghanaians manage their money and prepare for financial difficulties.
The discussions will focus on improving savings, responsible lending, insurance and pensions for households, workers and small businesses.
The Bank of Ghana announced the visit in a statement released on November 3, 2026.
Queen Máxima is visiting in her role as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health.
She will meet the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, to discuss Ghana’s progress in making banking and digital financial services available to more people.
According to the statement, the World Bank’s Global Findex Database 2025 shows that 81 percent of adults in Ghana have a financial account.
The Bank said the next step is to ensure that access to these services helps people improve their finances.
“Strengthening financial health is the next stage of Ghana’s financial inclusion journey,” it said.
Queen Máxima and the Bank will also host a meeting with banks, mobile money companies, insurers, pension providers and regulators.
They will discuss how to help people save, borrow responsibly and plan for retirement. They will also look at how employers can support workers in managing their finances.
The visit follows earlier talks between Queen Máxima, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Dr Asiama at the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings.
