An elderly woman who appealed for a television set in a viral video has received one following an intervention by President John Dramani Mahama.

The President brought her appeal to the attention of the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who visited the woman at Muronaim in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

In a video shared on Facebook by the Eastern Region Co-ordinating Council on November 5, 2026, the Minister, during a visit to the elderly woman, presented her with a 43-inch television set, a refrigerator and cash support.

In the viral video that caught the attention of President Mahama, the woman said she had heard about him and voted for him but had never seen his face because she did not own a television.

She explained that she wanted to be able to watch the President whenever he appeared on television.

“I have not seen him before, but I have heard of him. I have heard he is the president and I voted for him. I would like to meet him even though I don’t know him. I cannot make him out if he is standing before me unless someone says he is the president. I don’t own a TV to be able to see him,” she said.

After the donation, the woman expressed gratitude to President Mahama for responding to her appeal and prayed for him and his appointees to succeed in their work.

“God bless him, and I thank him for his gesture. I pray for God’s blessings for him to be able to deliver on his mandate. I also ask that his appointees work hard to help him develop the country for my grandchildren to also benefit from the development,” she prayed.
