FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono is reportedly considering quitting football as he struggles to cope with the death of Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel following their on-field collision.

According to a report by British media outlet Daily Mirror, the Equatorial Guinean goalkeeper has been battling psychological difficulties as he continues to grapple with the fatal incident.

The report also indicated that De Miguel left behind a wife and a one-and-a-half-year-old son, a development that has reportedly added to Owono’s emotional distress as he reflects on the consequences of the incident.

The situation has reportedly become so serious that FC Andorra has arranged psychological support for the goalkeeper to help him cope with the trauma.

Amid these challenges, Owono is said to be considering walking away from football and pursuing a different career following the incident, which could have significant implications for his future in the sport.

The match between Tenerife and FC Andorra was abandoned seven minutes into stoppage time after De Miguel collapsed following a collision with Owono.

The goalkeeper had rushed out of his area to clear a long ball but collided with the striker, striking him in the chest with his knee.

Medics attended to the 30-year-old on the pitch and spent more than five minutes attempting to revive him. He was later taken to hospital, where he died despite efforts to save his life.

Spanish authorities are investigating the incident.
