Lawyer William Kusi, a prominent supporter of former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, has died at the age of 56.

His death was confirmed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, in a Facebook post on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

Kusi was a well-known figure in political circles in the Ashanti Region, where he actively supported Kennedy Agyapong during the NPP's internal campaigns.

He was the head of communications for Ken Agyapong campaign team.

He was often seen defending the former MP on various platforms and was regarded as one of his staunchest supporters in the region.

Beyond his political involvement, Kusi gained national attention for his role in the high-profile legal dispute surrounding the estate and widowhood rights of the late highlife musician Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu.

He served as lead counsel for Akosua Serwaa in the case at the Kumasi High Court, where she challenged the recognition of Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as another lawful spouse of the late musician.

Mr Kusi, of Dominion Chambers, filed the suit on behalf of Akosua Serwaa, seeking a declaration that she was the only surviving lawful spouse of Daddy Lumba.

He argued that her marriage to the musician, contracted under German law on December 23, 2004, was monogamous and remained valid until his death on July 26, 2025.

The legal battle also involved the head of the Fosu family, Kofi Owusu Fosu, with the parties contesting issues surrounding the performance of widowhood rites and control of the musician's funeral arrangements.

In November 2025, the Kumasi High Court, presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, ruled that both Akosua Serwaa and Odo Broni were valid spouses of the late musician.

The ruling was a major development in the closely followed dispute, which attracted considerable public attention.
