Ghanaian Moslems Off To Mecca

Thu, 7 Feb 2002 Source:

Ghanaian Moslems have started leaving to the Holy City of Mecca in Saudi Arabia to perform this year's Hajj pilgrimage. They will be joining close to two and a half million other Moslem pilgrims from all over to pray at the Holy K'aba and other holy places.

Ghana's Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, would head a distinguished government delegation to the Holy Land. This would be the first time in Ghana's history that a Vice President would be leading such a delegation.
