as Young Patriots Emulate Akuffo Addo

… they drank, smoked and misbehaved

Nana Akuffo Addo’s critics are worried about what he might do if he is elected the president of Ghana; create a class society, class arrogance, encourage impunity among the youth, endanger national security, embarrass Ghana with gaffes on the world stage with attitude associated with drug.

Many of these fears, though perhaps not the worst of them, are the characteristics of behaviors put up by the Young Patriots, a youthful affiliate of the NPP, before, during and after their ill-informed demonstration on Tuesday which ended in a near fracas.

The demonstration itself was a total flop as it was hardly patronage and the impact imaginably less impressive. A handful of the party’s (NPP) big-wigs were there but showed insignificant interest in the ongoing demonstration as the message of the demonstration appears to be non-motivational.

The pressure group of the opposition NPP, (the Young Patriots) exhibited a vitriolic conduct on the streets of Accra which rather exposed their domestic ill breeding untypical of home breed Ghanaians.

In the early hours of Tuesday September 6th, The Republic’s Reporter who was strategically positioned to monitor the demonstration saw the demonstrators sharing among themselves drinks suspected to be hard liquor and openly smoking substances suspected to be marijuana.

The young Patriots exhibited their crass ignorance of the law and exposed the indecency in their domestic upbringing which observers looked sadly on and wondered if the NPP with such undisciplined youth can rule this country again.

The young patriots carrying insulting placards moved from the Obra spot at Nkrumah Circle with some extorting money from taxi drivers and provoking unlookers .

The Republic’s Reporter who was strategically positioned to monitor the demonstration was at the scene at 07:00am and saw some of the some of the demonstrator drinking and smoking at the Obra spot before a sizeable convoy took off around 10am through the Ghana Commercial Bank Towers towards the Adabraka Police Station, Farisco Traffic light and finally at the Hearts Park where their leader addressed them and to present a copy of their petition to a representative of the president.

When the eventually reached the proposed destination, they refused to give the petition to the presidential Aide Nii Lantey Vanderpuije who was designated to receive their petition alleging that they did not “trust” him insisting that either Chief of Staff, the Vice President or the President himself must come for it.

The demonstration was organized at a time allegations have intensified that Nana Akuffo Addo, the flagbearer of the NPP is arrogant and addicted to drug.

Tainted by his infamous all-die-be die declaration, recent diplomatic cable leaks by Wikileaks also categorically exposed allegations about Nana Addo’s unfettered lifestyle which was demonstrated by the Young Patriots during their demonstration.

In a petition signed by some of the leaders which includes John Kumah, the Young patriots claimed “Ghanaians” can ill afford three square meals a day under the Mills leadership while “standard living of keep falling each day” yet, the demonstrators were looking very fat.

The pressure group insinuated that “the energy sector has since the beginning of President Mills’ tenure been recording retrogression among which are the frequent shut of the Tema Oil Refinery which they claimed costs the country US$1million daily.

They called for the dismissal of Mr. Ato Ahwoi Chairman of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation GNPC, Dr Oteng Adjei, the Minister of Energy and Mr. Alex Mould of the National Petroleum Authority.

The group equally condemned the recent increase in utility tariffs and called on the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) “to withdraw its recent decision as soon as possible”.

In a later interview with a police source who wished to be anonymous, he described the behavior of the group as “indiscipline and lawless individuals clothed in the cloak of a political party”, and warned that the Regional Administration was being tactical otherwise things would have gone overboard because the police is not used for personal issues but work on the technical’s of situations”.

“Imagine they wanted Taxi Drivers to use their Taxis to unruly converge on the streets and prevent others from using the roads which is not their personal property” the source told the Republic.
