Total to remain a strong force in Ghana's energy sector 96 New MD

Accra, Sept. 17, GNA - Total Petroleum Ghana new Managing Director, Guillaume Larroque has pledged the company's commitment to enhance servic= e delivery nationwide pledging the renewal of its joint campaign with the Ghana National Fire Service to improve road safety.

"Our involvement in Road Safety as a reference shareholder will be pursued and our joint campaigns with the Fire Service to inform the wider public of road dangers has been a tremendous experience that will be renewed," he said.


At a cocktail reception recently to bid farewell to the outgoing Managing Director Jonathan Molapo in Accra, Mr Larroque said the company would continue to act as a responsible leader to provide to Total's customers optimum performance and educate Ghanaians on road safety issues. "Our commitment, to make the roads of Ghana safer and to ensure that our products are brought to our customers by safe and reliable trucks and well trained drivers, cannot be questioned," Mt Larroque stated. The Outgoing MD Mr Molapo leaves Ghana for a prominent assignment as Vice President for North East Africa within the Total Africa and Middle Eas= t Organization.


Mr Larroque expressed thanksgiving to Molapo for leaving a strong and resilient Company, which he noted had grown significantly over the last three years, be it in the mining sector where a lot of efforts have been made to improve the company's offer to customers. "...or in the network of our service stations where our image and th= e quality of our sites have been much improved; as well as our Tomcard services which have attracted even more new clients," he added. Present at the send-off cocktail was Total Chairman and Vice President for West Africa, Mr. Stanislas Mittelman, who the new MD said for the past two years had also played a key role in the change and advancement of the Company in Ghana. Responding to a number of farewell messages, Mr Molapo, expressed appreciation to the many good things said about him and indicated that it could not have been possible without the loyalty of the Total Ghana staff, who through dedication, stood to work hard to realise the company's objectives and targets.

He described his three years stay in Ghana as the most rewarding years in his youngest career, noting the good results came because of Ghana's stable economic and political environment. Assuring his successor of the good business environment in the country= , Mr Molapo summarized it as: 93Ghana is one of the jewel of the crown Total= , because of the regulatory framework and the ease of doing business." "We have invest a lot - Every year we double our investment in areas such as road safety, education, health among others areas," Mr Molapo sai= d.


Total's operations in Ghana spanned 50 years, with its overriding principle being its insistence on quality products and the safety of the environment as well as individuals.
