Tourism Ghana is a new approach to promote the Country’s business and leisure travel potentials.
There is a general consensus on a need to do more to attract visitors to the country, especially when Destination Ghana is positioned to perform remarkably well by key industry analysts. Currently, we are among the Top 10 countries most likely to be chosen for travel by potential holiday makers in the year 2012 according to a survey by Frommers Travel Magazine and this should motivate us to stay competitive with other nations like South Africa, Uganda and Kenya.
Also, the climate in the Maghreb states adds an advantage to our efforts to secure pole position. The political turmoil in the Middle East and most parts of North Africa certainly will make global travelers look elsewhere for leisure. With a natural tourism infrastructure and good preparatory work done by Governments preceding the Mills Administration, it is only logical that we continue to employ the tools that make us attractive.
The basic idea is to take these attractions to potential travelers before they plan their trips. In this respect, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ghana Tourism Authority are supported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry in ensuring that the Diplomatic Representations of the Republic of Ghana abroad are the first points of call for future visitors to our country. As a policy, advance copies of Tourism Ghana are dispatched to all 53 missions world-wide, from Brazil to Russia and from Australia to Canada. As our nationals and their spouses go to the Embassies and High Commissions for consular services, there are good prospects of seeing the publication which eventually catalyzes their decisions to visit Ghana. Foreigners are even more likely to be impressed.
