Ghana’s minister of Food and Agriculture, MOFA, Hon. Kwesi Ahwoi has been defended by the concerned youth of NDC of Agona East on allegations that he had stolen Electricity poles meant for Rural Electrification Project.

The youths at a press conference denied categorically that a man of integrity and a genius such as Mr. Ahwoi would engage in such a criminal act.

The youth said right from the word go, Mr. Ahwoi has been performing efficiently in support of the “Better Ghana Agenda” that President J.E.A. Mills and government are pursuing.

The spokesperson of the concerned NDC youth, Mr. Kofi Buabeng stated these at a press conference at Swedru in the Central Region yesterday. He said the youth are aware of the elements behind that false news that sort to tarnish the hard won reputation of Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi.

Mr. Buabeng said nothing including such publications would stop Mr. Ahwoi from contesting the Agona East seat and wrestling it from NPP MP who is currently occupying the seat. He said the allegation was made at the time the minister was out of the country on official duties, so that he could not immediately to respond to it.

The spokesperson said the whole idea was to smear Mr. Ahwoi with dirt and tarnish his reputation because he stands too tall among the contestants. Mr. Buabeng said some of Mr. Ahwoi’s opponents are using all means to discredit him including lobbying some powerful chiefs in Agona East not to entertain Mr. Ahwoi nor listen to him during the campaign.

He said the people of Agona East deserve someone who would be able to snatch the seat from the incumbent NPP (MP), Hon. John Kwesi Agyabeng come 2012 for the Better Ghana Agenda to be attained. He said Agona East District is relatively new and in dire need of physical and social infrastructural developments.

The concerned youths reminded NDC members in Agona East that a house divided among itself can never stand, and called for unity before 2012 elections.
