Andre Ayew is hoping to be crowned African Player of the Year at some point in his career.

The 22 year-old midfielder came third behind winner Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita at Thursday's CAF Awards 2011 in Accra.

Andre, though disappointed at missing out on his first attempt after being shortlisted is hopeful of annexing it sometime in the future.

“I will do my best to win and will fight till I get it. As a player, I expect to go higher. It is natural to be disappointed, not to win the award on home soil.

“It was in Ghana and I wanted to win. It is part of football and I am still learning. I am proud to finish behind players like Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita.”

The Ghana international was last week was voted the BBC African Player of the Year by fans through a poll.
