Timing just right for Dr Ndoum¹s new party- aide

Aide to Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum has debunked concerns that time might not favour Dr Ndoum as he works towards building a new political party before the next general elections.

Kofi Siaw said for Dr Ndoum and his team, timing will not be an issue since prior to Dr Ndoum's declaration, campaign committees had already been on the ground strategising to avert these problems.

Dr Ndoum left the Convention People's Party about a week ago to form his own political movement that will metamorphose into a political party before the next general elections in December.

However, there have been some concerns about the timing not being right for such a political move considering the numerous works that go into forming a political party and campaigning ahead of a major election.

According to Pollster Ben Ephson the timing for Dr. Ndoum's departure was wrong since it will be impossible at this time of the year for any member of the various political parties to leave and join a ten month old party.

Speaking in an interview on the Big Bite Show on Xfm 95.1 however, Mr. Siaw was confident "their ability to organize themselves, the needed skills of their human resource and the machines at their disposal will be the key to Dr Ndoum¹s success².

According to him, the ground has already been prepared for the task ahead, and that what is yet to be done is to "formalize the group so that it will be on the same wave length with the Electoral Commission's laws on Political Parties".

Kofi Siaw was overwhelmed at the organization's progress since its inception disclosing that "people from all over the country are eager to join and support Dr. Ndoum in his course to win the 2012 election".

He emphasized that the youth of this country will form the focus of their campaign because they constitute the majority of the population.

ŒWe are confident of winning the 2010 general elections¹, he said.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that the name of Dr Ndoum's new political party is The Progressive People¹s Party (PPP).

Richmond Keelson, another aide to Dr Ndoum confirmed on Radio Gold.

He said they have been able to collate signatories from all districts in the country as required by the electoral laws in order to obtain a provisional license from the Electoral Commission to start operations.

Keelson stated that a delegation of the yet to be accredited party will be heading to the EC this afternoon to register the PPP in order to contest the 2012 elections. He said barring any hitches a provisional certificate would be issued to them to begin operations from today or by Friday.

The motto of the PPP is ³Prosperity in Peace.² Its symbols consist of a full glowing red sun on a white background with red and white as its official colours.
