As Okudzeto Orders Stay-Off In Defence

Whatever the sun fail to reveal, they say the earth will certainly throw out; and that is why those in government scheming for Consul Alfred Agbesi Woyome to be jailed must bow down their heads in big shame.
It came to fore during this paper’s painstaking effort to probe into the sudden neglect of the NDC stalwart, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, by his party, in the months-long brouhaha that has characterized the judgment debt paid him, and his subsequent arrest and detention by the police that, some leading members of government (names withheld for now) who have never liked him for his principled stance wanted him jailed.
Speaking to The Informer, and pleading anonymity for fear of victimization, a deep-throat source within government reveals that it has always been the plan of the said government appointees to ditch Alfred Woyome, whom they claim was fast becoming powerful in the party and preventing them from carrying out their individual agenda long before the judgment debt saga came into being. “Very transparent, and as someone who believes in fair play, Consul Alfred Woyome began to incur the displeasure of the said group; and since then they have been finding ways to destroy him”, the insider pointed out. “In fact, the judgment debt issue has fueled their operations against Mr. Woyome and that even since the issue broke out they have engaged various groups in the party in addition to their clandestine activities to nail Woyome, promising them of a better reward, should they take the bold decision to stay away from the judgment debt case, more or less defending him”, this paper’s impeccable source reveals.
“I am surprised that our own people are doing this to Mr. Woyome, a man who has contributed immensely to the building of this great party when many including some of those who are today hatching this evil agenda against him, had abandoned the party when we were in opposition”, the insider opined.
The source however, indicated that should the group continue its sinister move against Consul Alfred Woyome, he will mobilize the entire party machinery to go after them, stating that they cannot impose their wishes on the party and feel that everybody should succumb to their demand.
In a related development, however, credible information stumbled upon by this paper has it that, the Deputy Information Minister, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in one of their COMSTRA meetings issued a very strong directive to members never to defend Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome. According to our COMSTRA sources, Samuel Okudzeto in issuing his instruction to members indicated that the said decision was coming from government and so, therefore, must be observed. “It is the decision of government not to involve itself in the Woyome judgment debt matter, so folks get it straight and don’t bother yourselves with this issue”, according to the sources, Okudzeto pointed out. “In fact, we are not happy about the way and manner government and for that matter the party has handled this judgment at all, but as for Okudzeto and his godfathers, we will pay them back in their own coin”, some COMSTRA members told The Informer. “We are not saying that the party and for that matter government should defend Woyome even if he is guilty, at all, but for some appointees of government like Okudzeto Ablakwa to make passing judgment on the matter is the biggest of our concern”, they conclude.

Like those COMSTRA members have indicated above, The Informer are not the least saying that the government or the NDC party should shield criminals, but our worry is about the maneuvering to have Mr. Woyome jailed; to the extent that as part of the plot, directives have been given to party members not to go into his defence.
To be honest, The Informer will be the first to call for Consul Alfred Woyome’s head if he is found to have defrauded the state. But now that the matter is under legal review it is completely absurd for some appointees of government to start pronouncing judgment like Okudzeto is doing, which is improper.
The Informer will always strive for the truth and in so doing; we do not care whoever is affected in the process as we caution government appointees pronouncing judgment on the matter to be careful not to incur our wrath.
